Washington hosts No. 11 Michigan Avenue, both seeking validation – Oakland Press

Seattle (AP) – For two weeks against less competition, things went according to plan. Impressive moments on both sides of the ball against the teams that must be preparations for the challenges ahead.

That description can be applied to both Michigan State No. 11 and Washington heading into Saturday’s no-conference showdown.

Michigan State beat two Mid-American Conference teams (2-0) and did nothing to refute the notion that the Spartans deserved to be on the cusp of breaking the top ten. Washington (2-0) defeated Kent. State and Portland State seem to be enjoying the early stages of Calin Debor’s tenure as head coach.

But while both teams have looked the part, neither has proven much yet. Which makes Saturday’s match somewhat interesting.
