Sleeper and the Bust DK مسابقة Competition

Most Tuesdays, Fridays, and some other days, Paul Sporer and I will do work 5 dollar kings game for anyone interested. A link will be added as soon as it becomes available.

quick beats

Brendan Rodgers was placed on IL with a hamstring strain. This will likely end his season in 2022.

Trevor Story has been put on IL retroactively to September 19. While he could return before the end of the season, his season appears to be over.

Julio Rodriguez left Thursday’s match with a tight back. He is expected to undergo more tests on Friday. Take it day in and day out for now.

Joey Wendle was laid down on IL with a hamstring injury. This season will likely be over.

Ryan Yarbro left Thursday’s game with an apparent tilt injury. Take it day in and day out for now, but these types of injuries usually take 4-6 weeks to recover from depending on their severity.

Various news and notes

Ezequiel Tovar was called up, but he did not take part in the match on Thursday. Tovar is the highest prospect in the Rockies system and is widely considered a top 25 fantasy opportunity. He’s hit 14 home runs, steals, and 17 bases in 318 games between AA and AAA this year. He doesn’t expect to make much power in the majors, but he has a good tool, he can walk and doesn’t hit much. There is some speed as well. His main calling card is his defense and he’s definitely good enough to give him some ropes to stick in the Majors. It plays in the long run more than anything else.

Kyle Pradesh threw 8.2 innings without goals, allowing only two hits and no walks as he scored 10 in the win over the Astros on Thursday.

This was a very nice start. Not only because of the streak, but the mix of pitch was very different from what we’ve seen from Pradesh in the past. Pradesh has been a fastballer 50% of the year and has not thrown any pitches 40% of the time and the fast ball has only been thrown 18 times out of the 100 pitches that have thrown it. Pradesh has been up and down this year but it has a huge upside and I love the mix of pitch and change of sequence.

Jonathan Aranda went 2-4 with a home run in the win over the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Aranda has been quietly good since his debut, notching .278/.361/.463 with two home runs in 61 board appearances. He’s also been running an average of 10% and out less than 20% of the time and has been playing pretty much full time since September 10th. There is a very good hitting tool and some real pop at the bat. He should be an interesting sleeper next season.

Flowing pitchers (<50% at CBS)

Jar of the Day: Cody Morris in TEX

Morris was putting in a good show and the game is good in Texas.

High-Risk Options: CHW’s Eduardo Rodriguez, Javier Asaad at PIT.

Urn for Tomorrow: Wade Miley at PIT

Miley is a bit risky, but it’s a good match.

High-Risk Options: Billy Walter v. ATL, Graham Ashcraft v. MIL.

For those of you who would like to see how these shots work, I have a document I put together to track stats from recommended shooters. It does not include “high-risk options”.
