Robinson 3 TDs Strength #21 in Texas at UTSA 41-20

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – Beagan Robinson ran for 183 yards and three touchdowns, Jahdae Barron returned a 44-yard interception for a score in the third quarter, and No. 21 in Texas beat UTSA 41-20 Saturday night.

Texas fell 17-7 in the second quarter and then went up to tie by the first half. Robinson’s 78-yard touchdown run gave the Texans the lead, and Barron’s return to intercept gave the Longhorns an 11 lead to overturn the Roadrunners’ upset display that would have been the biggest win in the history of the football-only rookie program since 2011.

“I don’t think our team backed down for a moment,” said Texas coach Steve Sarkissian. “We struggled through the ravages of an early start.”

Hudson Card got the start at the Texas quarterback (2-1) in place of the injured Quinn Ewers. Card had his own struggle with a sprained ankle during the week and it wasn’t announced as a starter until match time. He finished after 161 yards and even shot out for 32 yards in the fourth quarter.

“I’ve been kind of in therapy all week,” Card said. “I had a good feeling I was going to play.”

Texas jumped into the national rankings due to the strength of its close-to-no loss a week ago. 1 Alabama, but found himself down 10 as UTSA (1-2) followed a surprising side kick with a trick-playing touchdown pass to Zachary Franklin.
