Mariota, the Falcons are still looking for an elusive win

Atlanta (AFP) Marcus Mariota and the Atlanta Falcons couldn’t find a way to win in two games filled with equal parts of encouragement and frustration.

The Falcons showed resilience in trying to recover from a 28-3 downturn on Sunday against the reigning Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. Mariota played a role in trying to come back, but with Atlanta driving for a potential traffic light, a pass to Brian Edwards was picked up in the end zone by Galen Ramsey.

After losing 31-27, the Falcons won the combined five points at the start 0-2.

Coach Arthur Smith says the Hawks “need to break through” but added, “They’re fighting, they’re resilient.”
