Phoenix (AFP) – Dre Jameson made seven innings on his major league debut and the Arizona Diamondbacks scored three games in a 4-0 win over the San Diego Padres Thursday night.
Jameson, who was called up Thursday from Triple-A Reno, gave up two hits — both by Brandon Drury — and walked one. He hit five – including Juan Soto twice – and scored 10 goals. He threw 90 throws, 62 to strike.
Kevin Ginkell, Joe Manteble and Reyes Moronta finished all three hits. Ketel Marte, Emmanuel Rivera, and Carson Kelly Homers hit solos.
Marty achieved his 11th home run this season, ahead of the fourth place on the pitch from Shawn Manya (7-9). Rivera followed two naysayers later with a high drive down the line in the left to Bullpen in Arizona on the 12th of the year.
Kelly added a single shot, the seventh, in the seventh inning from Nick Martinez to make the score 3-0. Christian Walker’s RBI song closed at number eight the recording.
Padres’ lead over the dormant Milwaukee Brewers in last place for the wild card in the National League was reduced to 1 1/2 games.
The 25-year-old Jameson was the 34th overall pick in the 2019 Ball State draft. He was 7-13 with a 6.41 ERA and 1.49 WHIP in 25 starts, mostly at Reno in the attack-enhanced Pacific Coast League.
It’s the second time this month that the Arizona Ramy goes seven rounds against the Padres in his MLB debut. Ryne Nelson did it in San Diego on September 5th.
Manaea debuted since September 3, gave up two solo crawlers and one more hit, Marte’s song in the first half. He did not walk with nothing and hit three.
On his last start, he gave up eight runs in 4 1/3 innings in Los Angeles. A goalless rest took place on Saturday against the Dodgers in San Diego.
“We gave him some time,” Padres manager Bob Melvin said. “He looked good when he came back against the team that caused him the most trouble.”
Manaea has the highest road time (6.10) of any qualified bowler in the Specializations.
Padres’ Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Josh Bell, Diamondbacks’ Emmanuel Rivera and Josh Rojas wore the number 21 Thursday to honor Roberto Clemente, the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer who lost his life on a humanitarian mission on December 3rd. 31, 1972.
Jameson is the fourth call-up for the Diamondbacks from the 2019 draft to make his debut this season. Corbin Carroll (16th), RHP Ryne Nelson (56th) and LHP Tommy Henry (74th) have all appeared in the majors.
Padres’ Luis Liberato hit Austin Nola for eighth in his league debut. He flew to the left against Kevin Jinkel.
Padres: Drury has been sidelined with a concussion since he was hit in the head on a field in Los Angeles on September 2. If Iggy Rosario was selected for Triple-El Paso to make way for Drury.
Diamondbacks: LHP Kyle Nelson has been placed on the injured list for 15 days, retrospectively through Tuesday, with inflammation in his left elbow.
A left-handed pair feuds, Padres’ Blake Snell (6-9, 4.02) and Arizona State’s Madison Baumgarner (6-14, 4.88), Friday night at Chase Field.
